TELLER DUTIES
Who takes care of the congregation's offerings every week? The Tellers do! Our Redeemers would really like to have more tellers. This group of loyal people takes care of the envelopes, counts the money and makes sure that everything balances so that all the bills can be paid. All anyone need to know is how to read and write!
The tellers take care of the combined offerings during the week at the time that suits their busy schedules. The four people in charge of this process are: Beverly Wilkes, Sherrie Cottrell, Mary Illg and Jerry Mcdaniel. Each one is in charge for 3 months and then the next person takes over. We like to have 2 or 3 people working with the leaders; no one ever handles the offering alone.
Someone counts the money and another person will check it out. Another person will take the envelopes and write the names, check numbers and amount on them. The envelopes are added up and the checks are added up by different people and the two totals must match. Special envelopes are accounted for and double checked. The Leader of the group is responsible for writing down all the totals in the correct place on out teller forms. The whole process takes about 1 to 1 _ hours if done correctly. When an error is made, it usually takes about 2 to 3 hours.
If you are interested in helping our church, this is a great group to be in. You may work only once or twice a month or every other month or only with a particular group leader---Your choice and at the time you want to help. Pleased contact any of the Leaders for more information and a copy of the Rule For Tellers or phone Beverly Wilkes at 630-837-7889. You can even sit in on a session and just observe. This is such an important job that has to be done and we have very few people to do this.
